Terms of Use
Last updated 24 September 2026
These terms apply to everything at this site: the lessons and articles, the browser simulator, the Real labs platform and lab server, and your ZNetLab account (together, "ZNetLab"). By creating an account or using ZNetLab you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use ZNetLab.
1. What ZNetLab is
ZNetLab is an independent product for learning and practising networking. The browser simulator reimplements protocol behaviour and an IOS-style and Junos-style command line; it is not vendor software. The Real labs platform runs network operating-system images that you or your administrator supply. ZNetLab ships no vendor software and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Cisco, Juniper, Arista or any other vendor named on the site. Product names are used only to describe compatibility; they are trademarks of their owners.
2. Your account
- Give accurate information when you register, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- One person per account. Team and enterprise plans provide seats for more people.
- Tell us through the Contact page if you think your account has been used without your permission.
3. Acceptable use
Use ZNetLab to learn, teach, test and design networks. Do not:
- use a lab, a device or a console to attack, scan or disrupt any system or network you do not own or have written permission to test;
- try to break out of a lab, reach the lab server's host or other people's labs, or get around plan limits, sign-in or access controls;
- upload malware, or content that is unlawful, infringing, abusive or that you have no right to share — including in articles, forum posts, comments and published labs;
- overload the service on purpose, or scrape it in bulk;
- resell or re-host ZNetLab, or copy its code, text, icons or artwork, unless we have agreed to it in writing. (Third-party components keep their own licences — see Licences.)
4. Images you upload, and their licences
The lab platform boots images that users and administrators upload. You are solely responsible for every image you upload or run, and for holding a valid licence for it. Many vendor images may only be used under a licence or agreement from their vendor, and some may not be used on a shared server at all. ZNetLab does not provide, sell or license any vendor image, and does not check whether you are entitled to use one. If we are told that an image on a ZNetLab server is used without a licence, we may remove it and suspend the account that uploaded it.
5. Content you create
You keep the rights to the labs, articles and posts you create. By publishing something to a public part of ZNetLab (an article, a forum post, a shared lab) you give ZNetLab a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it on the site for as long as it is published. Private labs and saved console logs are yours and are shown only to you and to administrators who need to operate the service.
6. Plans and payments
- What each plan includes, its price and its limits are shown on the Plans section. Paid plans are billed per the plan you choose — per period, and per seat where the plan says so.
- Payment is settled as described when you place the order (for example, invoice or bank transfer, or a payment provider's own checkout page). ZNetLab itself never asks for or stores card numbers.
- A plan stays active for the period you paid for. Unless the order says otherwise, fees already paid are not refundable except where the law requires it.
- We may change prices for future periods; a change never affects a period you have already paid for, and we will tell you before it applies.
7. Suspension and termination
You can stop using ZNetLab and ask for your account to be deleted at any time (see the Privacy notice). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that puts the service or other users at risk, or where the law requires it. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why and give you the chance to export your labs first.
8. No warranty
ZNetLab is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. The simulator is a teaching tool: its behaviour can differ from real equipment, and passing a ZNetLab lab is not a vendor certification or a guarantee of any exam result. Labs, consoles and saved data can be lost; keep your own copies of anything important.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, ZNetLab is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid for ZNetLab in the twelve months before the claim.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed; for a significant change we will tell signed-in users before it takes effect. Continuing to use ZNetLab after that means you accept the new terms.
